Jenna helped make a special crown for her little sister while I sewed a very simple little dress for one of Caroline's dolls (in the hopes she could remove it herself). We decorated the living room with what has become our traditional birthday garb: banner, lights, tablecloth, and flowers gathered from the yard. Caroline had dogwood and cherry tree blossoms and purple lilacs in her bouquet. Her other present was a "Laura and Mary" book.
After breakfast, the girls of the house went on a special adventure at Dixon Springs. There was lots of swinging....
A hike...
A picnic of turkey/cheese/avocado sandwiches, pretzels and gatorade...
Followed by an ice cream cone for each of us at the Chocolate Factory--with lots of sampling encouraged. We all agreed Carnie picked the best flavor.
It was truly a perfect day and a wonderful way to celebrate. Jenna asked as we left the park, "Mama, can we come to Dixon Springs on my birthday?"
Happy Birthday, sweet Caroline.
