Two Random Mondays

I logged what I did all day long on two consecutive Mondays (actually, the first Monday I stopped recording right after lunch).  :)  The second Monday was very housework intensive given that Jenna had a cold and I knew we wouldn't be "doing" as much learning or play-wise.

I love having a record of an average day in this season of our lives.  Lists can be validating (you do more than you think), enlightening (spend more/less time in some areas than you realize), and kind of fun!

1. Checked with Ryan to see if Rachel’s contractions had started. Shared a few laughs.
2. Called Mom to update on Rachel’s status.
3. Talked to Bryan in the shower.
4. Took a shower. Listened to a violin song while I was in the shower.
5. Called B. to remind him to turn around and get his lunch.
6. Exchanged email messages and phone calls w/ Kristin Turner and Gary Don trying to figure out daily run. One sick, one didn’t want to run in wind.
7. Gave Tucker his insulin shot. Fed two dogs.
8. Started a load of laundry.
9. Tended the fire.
10. Fixed girls’ cereal-Read Julie of the Wolves and George the Monkey
11. Watched and discussed mourning doves and other birds at the feeder.
12. Talked to Jenna about what the word “population” means as she flipped through entire bird book checking bird populations. Also discussed if she could have seen a brown thrasher the other day.
13. Cleaned Caroline up in the bathroom.
14. Directed everybody to get morning “chores” done.
15. Sat with kids at desk and listened to Jenna’s mad lib story. Charted daily temp with Jenna Directed a little activity to help kids understand road, town, state, country, continent , planet.
16. Got out giant world map to see where Miyax lives in our story. Caroline got out Asheville topographic map (as she does everytime I get a map out).
17. Helped Caroline do a blog post.
18. Played on google maps with the kids.
19. Checked Alicia Bayer and FIMBY for my daily dose of inspiration. Left a comment on Alicia’s site bc I love her writing so much. 
 20. Talked about what Eskimos would have used for ponytail holders and helped kids get a few things for their Eskimo play.
21. Ironed a mob cap for an Eskimo, heated some chicken noodle soup and served lunch to Eskimos outside.

22. Started supper prep and laid out ingredients for kids to make a dip for their own healthy snack.
23. Stopped to identify a slimy critter and tried to determine if leech. Decided it was a slug. Got camera so that Jenna could photograph it for her blog.
24. Read that I made Alicia Bayer’s day with my comment on her blog. 
25. Started supper prep.

March 11
1. Changed yahoo and amazon passwords bc my email was hacked.
 2. Lifted weights, stretched, did back exercises, rode bike for 15 mins at high cadence.
3. Iced knee and meditated for about a minute (also said good morning to Caroline).
 4. Got milk for Caroline, read her a book.
5. Took a shower, talked to Jenna during shower, finished shower with Jenna in with me because she “loves to talk to” me while we are in the shower. 
6. Bird counted a bit w/Jenna.
7. Started some laundry.
8. Diffused Jenna feeling rotten (has a cold) by warming her clothes in the dryer.
9. Fixed cereal bowls w/fruit. Stopped to give Tucker his insulin (forgot), feed dogs, leg dogs out.
10. Read Berenstain Bears NewBaby and 30+ minutes of Miyax. Jenna was bundled on yellow couch, Caroline was cuddled next to me on grown couch, until she’d had enough of no pictures in Miyax book and brushed and “fixed” my hair. (she still listens very attentively tho).
11. Cried when Amaroq was killed by a hunter. Had to stop reading for a bit.
12. Started a fire because everyone was cold.
13. Started more laundry. Had to stop laundry mid-load to track down a wasp in the house, while trying to calm a hysterical four-year-old.
14. Did writing with kids. Jenna dictated two sentences from Julie and the Wolves and Caroline did Montessori tracing. Commented that Jenna didn’t want to do her writing at first, but sat down to do it anyway—and did it well. Gave her a fist pump. Reminded kids to clean up desk.
15. Started rice for supper and cut up an onion for the same reason. Made tea. Reminded kids to finish morning routine (teeth and miralax).
16. Made quesadillas and salads for lunch (had Caroline help). Discussed Alaska and the arctic, looked up a Plover bird (read about it in Miyax book).
17. Cleaned up kitchen while directing kids to clean up their lego, bead, and chair mess.
18. Switched out more laundry. Talked to kids about Ruby being a submissive instead of dominant dog. Had to get more food for Caroline who ate broccoli, a salad, ½ a quesadilla and then 3 kiwis. Think she finally got full.
19. Iced knee again, while icing…Played Montessori math on the computer with Caroline. Jenna read (I defined some words for her). Played Bingo Math with Jenna.
 20. Took a nap. Hoped low back pain would go away with nap. No luck.
21. Starting putting up laundry. Mixed in some back exercises. No luck w/back pain. Picked up a basket of laundry. Back pain worse. Took ibuprofen.

30.  Read a few pages of Miyax (actually Julie and the Wolves, but we have been calling it Miyax).
31. Stayed up for an hour reading education articles on Pinterest.
