If the boots don't fit, layer as many socks as you can find until boots stay on.  And don't mention the sock thing to a shocked-that-you-can-wear-shoes-that-size Mama when she feels for your big toe.  Wait to mention said sock thing after all the errands are run and you are safely back home.
